Wake County is developing a Strategic Plan for Wake County Animal Services. This effort will help guide how Animal Services supports people and pets in the years ahead.
This plan will help us:
- Better understand community needs and challenges
- Strengthen programs and services
- Improve the quality of life for the animals in our care
The Strategic Plan will outline:
- Key priorities for Animal Services
- Recommended goals and action steps
- A roadmap for the next several years
As a first step, we are conducting a survey. Information gathered through the Community Pet Needs Survey and other research will help us understand the experiences, challenges and priorities of residents and pet owners across Wake County. This input will help inform priorities and decisions.

- Spring 2027: Plan finalized
