Wake County is developing a Strategic Plan for Wake County Animal Services. This effort will help guide how Animal Services supports people and pets in the years ahead.
This plan will help us:
- Better understand community needs and challenges
- Strengthen programs and services
- Improve the quality of life for the animals in our care
The Strategic Plan will outline:
- Key priorities for Animal Services
- Recommended goals and action steps
- A roadmap for the next several years
Anticipated Timeline
- Summer 2025: Project kickoff
- Fall/Winter 2025–26: Inventory and analysis
- Spring 2026: Community Pet Needs Survey and listening activities
- Summer/Fall 2026: Development of proposed priorities
- Fall/Winter 2026: Public feedback on draft priorities and plan
- Spring 2027: Plan finalized
