Board Committees

The Wake County Board of Commissioners uses committees to work on specific policy areas before agenda items come before the full Board. The committees hold virtual public meetings several times a year to hear from experts, Wake County staff and community partners. Regional and Advisory Board Liaisons

Commissioners also serve as liaisons and board members on many cultural, social, economic and policy boards across the region. This allows commissioners to update key partners on the county’s work and learn more about residents’ and organizations’ needs. Resident Advisory Boards

The Board of Commissioners appoints residents to serve on Wake County’s various advisory boards. Some advisory boards make decisions for their organizations and some assist municipal and county elected officials in making informed decisions. Each advisory board has its own policies regarding composition and terms, so commissioners are frequently looking for qualified candidates to fill vacancies. See a full list of advisory boards and learn the process for advisory board appointment here. At the first regular board meeting of each month, the Deputy Clerk to the Board reads upcoming advisory board vacancies for public and board awareness.
