Do I have to be living overseas to request an overseas ballot?
No! You can be a citizen visiting outside the country for vacation or living abroad to request.
Do I have to get my ballot mailed to me?
You can request to have your ballot mailed, e-mailed, or faxed to your overseas or military address. You can also submit your ballot materials through the NC State Absentee Portal!
Is the NC Absentee portal secure?
Yes! You will need to enter identifying information in order to access your materials.
I have not lived in North Carolina for a while, what residential address should I put?
Your residential address should be the last place you lived before leaving the country. You do not need current ties to that address.
My near-relative is living overseas or is in the military, can I request a ballot for them?
No, the voter must request their own overseas or military ballot.
How long does my Federal Post Card Application last?
Your Federal Post Card Application lasts one calendar year. This means you will receive all ballots you're eligible for until December 31st.
