Wake County EMS provides medical and non-medical coverage for many types of public events and community organizations.
Medical Coverage for Events
For some large-scale events, EMS can provide an on-site team to evaluate, treat and transport individual patients as needed. Please submit your request at least two weeks in advance for weekday events, and one month in advance for weekend events.
Please note: There are costs associated. See Coverage Fees below for more information.
We cannot cover all events. When deciding if we can safely cover an event, and what types of resources to provide, we consider factors such as:
- Event size (2,500+ participants)
- Risk factors for participants
- Traffic issues
- Availability of staff
- Impact to 9-1-1 operations
Non-Medical Event Coverage (Public Relations and Outreach)
EMS can visit your event or organization to engage with attendees and provide basic information about EMS. Please submit your request at least two weeks in advance for weekday events, and one month in advance for weekend events.
Request Non-Medical Event Coverage
Examples include:
- Community events (National Night Out, 55+ community events, etc.)
- School or youth group events (career fairs, Touch-a-Truck, etc.)
- Cultural, civic and church group events
CPR Class Requests
EMS can provide hands-only CPR training to your organization. Please note that these classes do not provide an official certificate. Submit your request as early as possible for the best chance of availability. Requests must be submitted at least two weeks in advance; submitting one month in advance increases the likelihood that your request can be scheduled.
Lecture Requests
EMS staff can visit your organization to provide education about first aid and emergency medicine, share special information tailored for senior groups, and discuss how EMS works and how to get involved. Please submit your request at least one month in advance.
Examples include:
- Senior centers and 55+ communities
- School and university events or classes (Career Day, etc.)
- Workplace events (Safety Day, conferences, etc.)
Touch-a-Truck Event Requests
EMS may be able to provide an ambulance and staff for display at community events, depending on availability. Please submit your request at least one month in advance.
Example events include:
- Community events (First Friday, First Responders Night, etc.)
- Fairs or festivals
Please note: Availability of ambulances for your event may change due to 9-1-1 system needs or large-scale emergencies.
