Temporary Display Spa Permits

Planning to display an operational spa or hot tub at a temporary event? Businesses are required to obtain an inspection and permit from the Wake County Environmental Health & Safety Division.

Important Details

  • A permit is required for each spa or hot tub to be filled with water.
  • The fee for each permit is $75.
  • Applications and fees must be submitted at least 15 calendar days before the event for consideration.

Inspection Checklist

  • Spa water at least 3.0ppm chlorine or 4.0ppm bromine [rule .2545(d)]
  • Spa water pH 7.0 – 7.8 [rule .2545 (e)]
  • Signs available as required [rule .2545 (4-5)]
  • Written records available [rule .2545(6)]
  • Adequate chemical storage [rule .2545 (7)]
  • Latch/Lock cover available for spa when not in use [rule .2545(8)]
