The area is currently served by the Creedmoor Fire Department and Northern Wake Fire Department, but it is outside of any station's five-mile response boundaries. Building a new station will allow for quicker response times and lower insurance premiums for most residents.
The proposed new station has been named the Sandy Plains Public Safety Station. Project updates can be found below.

Sandy Plains Public Safety Station Project Updates
The new station project is planned to be a co-location of Northern Wake Fire, Wake County EMS, and the Wake County Sheriff's Department. The goal of the project is to increase the presence of essential public safety services in the northern Wake County community and to reduce response times by more than half.
The project is currently working its way through the planning process.
Design Approval
On Feb. 17, 2025, the Wake County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the final schematic design of the station at their regularly scheduled board meeting.
The planning process will now continue to move forward, and a notice to proceed for construction could be issued as soon as Sept. 1, 2025. The facility should be open for service by fall 2026.
