Energy Camp

Energy Camp

For almost 30 years, Wake County Energy Camp has been a place for campers to participate in a week's worth of wonderful energy-themed activities. It was an amazing opportunity for us to meet hundreds of campers and help them learn all about energy. But we're saying goodbye to that chapter and coming back with a new opportunity! We're going to continue a great partnership with Marbles Kids Museum and host an annual Energy Expo at the museum! You can continue to enjoy the energy projects and educational materials but keep checking back and we'll have an update on the date and time for our new Energy Expo @Marbles!

Virtual field trips, talks with experts and hands-on experiments with Wake County public school teachers – all from home!

For 28 years, Wake County Energy Camp has been a place for campers to participate in a week's worth of wonderful energy-themed activities. In 2021 we offered a virtual camp posting new virtual field trips, hosting guest speakers and demonstrating energy experiments kids can do at home.

The resources are posted below, so you can access them at your own pace. Many activities can be completed with materials found around the house. Students heading into the 4th, 5th and 6th grades will get the most out of the material.

Also below are recordings of live question-and-answer sessions with Wake County Public School System teachers and special guests. Virtual Energy Camp presenters included Wake County Solid Waste Management, Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant, Southern Energy Management and Beech Bluff County Park.

Explore your scientific curiosity and try the hands-on activities!
