On Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, the Wake County Board of Commissioners approved the Crowder County Park's new master plan, paving the way for major improvements and new features for visitors.

The master plan will provide access to the additional land the County acquired in 2019. Funds from the voter-approved bond for Parks, Greenways, Recreation and Open Space were used to purchase those 96 acres, which grew the park from 33 to 129 acres.

With the plan now approved, the design of Phase 1 began in late 2025, with construction expected to start in early 2027. Read the full news release here.
