
Until we can gather again, Crowder County Park is excited to offer engaging virtual field trip programs for groups. Get an interactive, educational experience from the safety and comfort of your own home.
School classes, scouts, clubs, homeschool groups, retirement communities and other organizations can sign up for an educational program to enjoy online.
Crowder's educational programming offers opportunities for participants to learn about nature and to explore important environmental concepts specific to piedmont North Carolina that will help them develop the skills and decision-making processes to become good environmental stewards.

School Programs
Tiny Tots Learn Through Nature
Join us for this live presentation specifically catered for your preschool- and kindergarten-aged children.
We will be learning all about local animals, colors, numbers, textures and senses. This live presentation is interactive, and will also include live animals and a fun storytime with our puppet friends! Adult accompaniment is required.
Best for ages 3–6
Presentation is suggested to be split into 2 half-hour sessions.
Exploring Monarchs and the Importance of Pollinators
During our Monarch program, we will explore how to identify this beautiful butterfly, learn all about its life cycles, migrations, and the important significance it plays in our eco-systems. You'll discover the different conservation efforts put into place to help this pollinator, and what you can do to help the different pollinators in your own backyard.
This program is best for grades 1st–4th

Reptiles Rock
During our Reptiles Rock program, your students will learn about the different types of reptiles, what they need to survive in their habitats, how they differ from amphibians, and fun facts about our local reptiles. You’ll get to meet Popcorn the snake, and maybe a turtle or two, as well! This program also comes with a special activity pack that is interactive and fun for your students to do after the live presentation.
This program is great for all ages!
Amazing Amphibians
Learn all about your local amphibians in this live and interactive presentation. Your students will learn the different types of amphibians and the characteristics that define them. They will also learn all about amphibian life cycles and the definition of metamorphosis. We’ll be practicing frog calls and playing a game of Frog versus Toad. An activity pack will also be provided for post visit activities.
This program is best for grades 1st–5th.
Planning Your Virtual Visit
Our virtual field trips are educator-led, live presentations combined with with video segments and participant interaction. Each program lasts about 50 minutes and encourages participants to think critically about their place in the environment. These virtual group programs are intended for groups with at least 10 participants in the targeted age range.
There is no fee for virtual field trips. We recommend scheduling one program session per group, and we can offer multiple dates, times and program sessions to best fit your needs.
Our virtual programs use Zoom or Google Meet. Participants will need internet access and a computer, tablet or phone to join the presentation. Please have an adult facilitator present to lend a hand with any technical difficulties.
