Kellam-Wyatt County Park is the newest member of the Wake County park and preserve family. This three-generation family farm and woodland sanctuary has much to offer in natural beauty, wildlife habitat and sustainable, educational agriculture.
The Wake County Board of Commissioners approved the Kellam-Wyatt master plan on Dec. 6, 2021. On Oct. 25, 2025, commissioners awarded a construction contract to TCC Enterprises, Inc., to build the park. Construction is expected to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated by winter 2027.
Funded through the 2018 Parks, Greenways, Recreation, and Open Space bond, the new park will feature:
- Community gardens, demonstration gardens and pavilion
- Walking trails and an open play area
- Nature playground
- Renovated farmhouse serving as a park center
- Restroom facility, parking and maintenance building
- Native plantings and public art
- Educational and recreational programs

Project Details
Kellam-Wyatt County Park is 59 acres and is located in east-central Wake County, near the border between Raleigh and Knightdale. The property was donated to Wake County with a conservation easement, which means the land is legally limited to certain uses that support conservation values such as open space, scenic views, habitat and watershed protection, preservation of rural character and agricultural production.

A public process developed the Kellam-Wyatt County Park vision and master plan that will protect the site’s natural and agricultural character while allowing for public access, education and recreation. The master plan was completed and approved by the Board of Commissioners on December 6, 2021. The plan includes community and demonstration gardens, trails, open space, a community orchard, a play area and pond overlooks.
