Watershed Management

watershed management

The Watershed Management Division reviews development projects and issues permits to help prevent flooding, excessive erosion, and water pollution. The team inspects sites during construction to make sure land grading is done properly as well as after construction to make sure stormwater systems are working properly. By working with developers, residents and local towns, the division helps protect water quality and support safe growth across Wake County.

The Stormwater Design Manual provides standards and guidance for managing stormwater runoff from new development and expansions in Wake County. It supports County and state regulations and ensures developments meet both state and County standards.
