Big Sweep is partnering with the City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources to clean up the trails, parking lots, picnic areas, and open spaces of the park, removing harmful litter. We need your help to keep our watershed clean! This effort is especially important because Lake Wheeler directly serves as a drinking water source for Raleigh residents.
Volunteers will be tasked with covering the park grounds, as well as the shoreline of the lake and pond areas. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing, such as sneakers or hiking shoes. We also recommend bringing drinking water, sunscreen, and a hat. All necessary supplies will be provided.
Registration required.
Group Registration:
If you're registering as part of a group, the group leader must email prvolunteer@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups are required to provide a list of volunteer names and email addresses.
Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Adults must register and accompany minors under 18. Everyone, including accompanying adults, must sign two waivers—one for the City of Raleigh and one for Big Sweep. If the volunteer is under 18, a parent or guardian must sign their waiver.
