Join Zone Captain Parnell Bell of the Blue Phoenix Group to help clean up a City of Raleigh urban site that has been part of Big Sweep for over 15 years! The cleanup will take place in a wooded, urban creek area. This site is located near a busy road and has steep banks in some areas. Volunteers should be aware that venomous snakes, poisonous plants, and hazardous urban litter have been spotted in the area. Volunteers will meet at the bridge on Stony Brk Dr. and then clean along Brentwood Rd., Stony Brk Rd., and the surrounding streams and stream banks. Detailed instructions will be emailed after registration prior to April 8. Those registered after April 9, please meet Parnell at the bridge around 10:45 AM.
Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and clothes that can get wet and/or dirty. Drinking water, bug spray, and sun protection are recommended. Cleanup supplies, including litter grabbers, gloves, and bags, will be provided.
All volunteers must sign liability waivers, and those under 18 must have a guardian present.
