Read Smart: Four Literary Heroines of the Nineteenth Century

About This Event
Join Anne Auten, assistant director of NC State’s University Honors Program, for a discussion featuring some of literature’s most iconic female heroines from the novels Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, and Little Women. All texts are available for free from Project Gutenberg. We will be focusing on the following chapters from each work:
Jane Eyre - Chapter 11
Wuthering Heights - Chapter 9
Pride and Prejudice - Chapter 34
Little Women - Chapter 8 ("Jo Meets Apollyon")
But don’t worry - there won’t be a quiz, so feel free to join us regardless of whether you’ve read these books recently, in the distant past, or simply would like to learn more. We have selected these texts in collaboration with the University Theatre’s production of You On the Moors Now.
Read Smart is a collaboration between NC State University Libraries and Wake County Public Libraries.
