Lawyers In Your Library

People looking over legal documents

Whether you are confronting a legal challenge or simply seeking direction, Lawyers in Your Library delivers credible, compassionate support directly into your community at no cost and without pressure.

Monthly events, coordinated through the Wake County Legal Support Center, provide access to legal information resources that extend well beyond family and housing law. Visitors can also connect with Legal Hand of North Carolina, Legal Aid of North Carolina and Wake Housing Affordability and Community Revitalization, all of which offer information and referrals across a broad range of civil legal issues, ensuring that every participant leaves with practical next steps

To ensure everyone has access, Lawyers in Your Library will rotate across regions of the county each quarter, as well as virtual Know Your Rights events that anyone can access from anywhere.

Lawyers in the Library 2026 Sessions
Lawyers in Your Library offers free family law and housing law consultations every month at libraries across the county. This initiative, developed in partnership between Wake County Public Libraries and the Wake County Legal Support Center, connects residents with volunteer attorneys for 30-minute, one-on-one guidance. Residents can meet with volunteer attorneys for free housing law and family law consultations, including help with issues such as eviction, repairs, landlord–tenant disputes, custody, child support, divorce and related concerns.

Additional Support

The mission of the Legal Support Center is to increase access to justice for residents of Wake County by serving as a resource hub for self-represented litigants in civil legal matters.

The Legal Support Center provides access to legal forms and information packets that address common problems like family law and housing, while partnering with community organizations to provide free legal clinics and access to other social services and community resources.

If you need support before our next event, including help with issues outside family or housing law, the following resources may be helpful:
