The Food Security Team is currently working on finishing the 2023 Food Plan. Over the past few weeks, members of the team and local individuals dedicated to food security in the area have been meeting to discuss strategies involving food distribution, outreach, and quality. The completed plan will be available later this year.
This June the Food Security Team will be recognizing National Hunger Awareness Month. The month will consist of information about food and hunger in Wake County, community partner events and the hosting of the Youth Summit. The summit aims to have participants gain an understanding of food insecurity, connect with other youth performing food security work in Wake County, and provide a voice for participants through meaningful engagement opportunities. Last year’s theme was “Interconnectedness of Food and Community.”
