Wake County Animal Center launches 24 Tails of Holiday Cheer campaign

Daily stories of amazing pets looking for their forever homes

"24 Days of Holiday Cheer" with paw print

This holiday season, take inspiration from “A Christmas Carol” and Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey of giving. Just as Scrooge discovered the power of opening his heart, you can bring happiness to a shelter pet by giving them the ultimate gift: a loving forever home.

While we’re not quite Dickens, the Wake County Animal Center is here to help you find your new best friend. Starting Dec. 1, we’ll be sharing heartwarming stories on our social media channels, featuring one pet every day until Dec. 24. You’ll get to know their charms and unique personalities, all to help you find your perfect match.

"Don't be a Scrooge this holiday season—open your heart and home to a shelter animal in need,” said Wake County Commissioner Cheryl Stallings. “Just like Ebenezer, you can transform a life (and your own) with one act of kindness. Make this season one of love, hope and second chances!"

The stories will be shared on the Wake County Animal Center's Facebook and Instagram pages. We encourage you to share your adoption stories using the hashtag #24PETtails.

With 98 dogs, three puppies, 23 cats and 16 kittens currently available, there’s a furry friend waiting for you. When you adopt a pet from the Wake County Animal Center, they are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their annual vaccines, saving adoptive families on veterinary costs.

Ready to adopt? Check out our adoption gallery or come by and see the sweet faces for yourself! The shelter is open for adoptions daily from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week. It is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, near the intersection of I-440 and New Bern Avenue in Raleigh.
