Wake County Animal Center launches Sweetheart Adoption Special for foster dogs

Wake County Animal Center may be closed for renovations, but that doesn’t stop love from finding its way home this Valentine’s Day. Your purr-fect match is waiting, and love is just a leash away!

From Feb. 7–15, the Animal Center is offering a Sweetheart Adoption Special for foster pets who are available for adoption and waiting to meet their forever families. Adoption fees are $25 for dogs and $5 for cats over five months of age. It’s the perfect time to add a furry soulmate to your life and give a pet the home they’ve been dreaming of.

“Every adoption is a love story waiting to happen,” said Wake County Commissioner Vickie Adamson. “Love multiplies when you open your heart and home to a furry companion who’s ready to share unconditional love, endless hugs and joy-filled moments.”

While dogs on the adoption floor are not currently available due to renovations, foster pets remain ready for adoption. There are currently 56 dogs, 28 cats and seven kittens in foster care looking for loving homes.

To make the search easier, adoptable pets have “dating profiles” that highlight their unique personalities, favorite activities, and what they’re looking for in their ideal human companion. Whether you’re into long walks on the beach, cozy nights in, or adventurous outings, there’s a pet ready to steal your heart.

Visit the Wake County Animal Center gallery and select “In Foster” as the location. When you’re ready to start your forever love story, contact the foster family to begin the adoption process.

Every pet adopted from the Wake County Animal Center is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines helping you save on veterinary costs while gaining a new best friend. Regular adoption fees are $95 for dogs, $45 for cats under five years old, and $15 for cats over five years old.
