No tricks, just treats! This Halloween, the Wake County Animal Center is waiving adoption fees so every pet can find a boo-tiful new home. From now through Nov. 9, all adoption fees will be waived as part of the “Spooky Season, Sweet Snuggles” campaign, making it easier than ever to welcome a new companion into your home.

“Yes, adoption fees are $0!” said Wake County Commissioner Cheryl Stallings. “With adoption fees waived, it’s a perfect chance to welcome a loving companion into your home and make a difference in the life of one of our shelter animals.”

Currently, the shelter has 120 dogs, one puppy, 33 cats and 15 kittens available for adoption, along with 91 adoptable dogs and cats in foster care. When you adopt a pet from the Wake County Animal Center, they are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on their vaccines. This saves adoptive families hundreds of dollars in veterinary costs while giving a pet the gift of a home.

“We hope this campaign inspires residents across Wake County to bring home a new pet,” said Dr. Jennifer Federico, director of the Animal Center. “If you know anyone looking to adopt a new family member, please consider sharing this promotion with them. We all need to do our part to take care of animals and ensure every pet has a safe and loving home.”

Adoptable pets can be viewed at pets.wake.gov. Some pets have an orange “featured” sign, which means they have been in the shelter for more than two weeks and are in urgent need of a loving home.

Ready to adopt? Check out our adoption gallery or come by and see the pets’ sweet faces for yourself. The shelter is open for adoptions daily from noon to 6 p.m., seven days a week. The Wake County Animal Center is located at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, near the intersection of I-440 and New Bern Avenue in Raleigh.
