Public canvass confirms results with no recount, protest or second primary
The results of the March 3 Primary Election in Wake County are now final following certification by the Wake County Board of Elections and the passing of all recount and protest deadlines. Official election results are available on the State Board of Elections Results Dashboard.
The Wake County Board of Elections certified the results during a public canvass meeting held on March 13. Prior to certification, election officials conducted a sample hand-eye count of two randomly selected precincts and reviewed and counted all approved absentee and provisional ballots.
The canvass process is the final step in the election cycle and verifies that all votes have been counted and tabulated accurately, formally certifying election results.
“While many people focus on Election Night, the election process does not end there,” said Wake County Board of Elections Director Olivia McCall. “Our team dedicates significant time to reviewing and auditing results in conjunction with our bipartisan Board to ensure everything is accurate. We saw strong voter participation across all voting methods, leading the state in absentee, early voting and Election Day turnout. We appreciate the commitment of our staff and election officials in conducting smooth and secure elections.”
With the primary election finalized, voter history records have been updated to reflect who participated in the election and the method by which they voted. Voter history records can be viewed on the State Board of Elections Voter Search tool.
Detailed results by precinct will be available no later than April 2 and will be published on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website.
