Wake County celebrates Community Day with food, fun and vital resources

Discover job opportunities and access services – all in one place

Wake County is hosting its sixth annual Community Day this weekend, designed to strengthen community ties and provide valuable resources to local families. Attendees can explore job opportunities, legal advice childcare options and health services while enjoying a day of entertainment for all ages.

"Community Day represents a continuation of the legacy of late Wake County Commissioner James West,” said Wake County Board of Commissioners Chair Shinica Thomas. “It’s a day dedicated to bringing people together and fostering a sense of unity and fellowship, reflecting the values that Commissioner West championed throughout his service."

This free family-friendly event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at John Chavis Community Park, located at 505 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd., Raleigh.

Event Highlights:

  • Access a wide range of no-cost community services
  • Network with employers actively seeking talent
  • Enjoy food, music and family-friendly activities

Launched in 2016, Community Day was established to address the challenge of accessing essential support by bringing it all together in one location. This annual fall event aims to eliminate barriers by connecting families and individuals of all ages with a range of career, health and social resources.

Organized by Wake County’s Social and Economic Vitality division, the event is a collaborative effort involving partners such as the City of Raleigh, Wake County Cooperative Extension, Capital Area Workforce Development and NC Works.

Attendees are asked to RSVP for the event.
