Residents encouraged to avoid driving if possible
A winter weather system is expected to bring snow, sleet and freezing rain to Wake County on Wednesday, Feb. 19, creating hazardous road conditions and possibly causing power outages. Out of an abundance of caution, Wake County has decided to adjust the operating hours of its facilities tomorrow and Thursday, Feb. 20, to protect the public and its employees.
All non-essential Wake County facilities will be closed to the public on Wednesday and will re-open at noon on Thursday, pending improved road conditions. This includes Wake County Parks, Libraries and Solid Waste facilities.
These schedule changes do not include essential personnel, such as law enforcement, EMS and other first responders who work around the clock to protect the public.
