Wake County to hold education sessions about budget development process

Did you know Wake County currently operates within a $2 billion budget? Are you interested in learning how the County puts your tax dollars to work? If you answered “yes,” we encourage you to attend one of our upcoming budget education sessions.

“Developing our annual budget is a complex process that requires months of extensive planning and discussion,” said Wake County Commissioner Tara Waters. “These educational sessions will break it down into easy-to-understand steps, so interested residents can leave feeling more informed about our efforts to make the best use of every tax dollar.”

The educational sessions will take place this spring at public libraries across the county. Some will feature a formal presentation, budget activity, and question-and-answer period. Others will offer a more informal opportunity for residents to talk directly with budget experts at a table set up inside the library.

Wake County Manager David Ellis plans to share his Fiscal Year 2026 Recommended Budget with the Wake County Board of Commissioners on May 5. Information about the current Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted Budget is available on our website.
