Wake County residents will have a chance to review and comment on draft plans and maps for the Neuse North area at an upcoming in-person community meeting.
The drop-in style meeting will be held Wednesday, June 24, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at New Hope Fire Station No. 2, 4909 Watkins Road in Wendell. Registration is optional.
"This interactive meeting gives community members an opportunity to learn more about current planning efforts and share their ideas directly with County staff," said Safiyah Jackson, vice chair, Wake County Board of Commissioners. "Public input is essential as we plan for future growth while preserving the area's character and natural resources."
Representatives from Wake County Planning and other departments will be available to discuss key topics related to development and growth, including land use, agriculture and water quality.
The purpose of the meeting is to make the draft plan and future land use maps available for public review and comment. The materials will also include results from public engagement to date.
The 10,890-acre Neuse North study area is home to approximately 8,000 residents. It is located between Wake Forest and Rolesville and extends to the Franklin County line.
This is the sixth of seven distinct areas the County is focusing on as part of its comprehensive plan, known as PLANWake, which charts a course to guide growth over the next 10 years. The Wake County Board of Commissioners already approved area plans for Lower Swift Creek, Middle Creek, Lower Neuse, Western Wake and Eastern Wake.
