Wake County Public Libraries invites the community to celebrate the power of stories with the launch of its 2025 Read Local program series. From author talks to writing workshops, the program lineup showcases local voices while offering readers of all ages the chance to connect.
“We often say that books open doors, but it’s the people behind them who truly bring stories to life,” said Wake County Commissioner Vickie Adamson. “Read Local is an opportunity for our residents to discover new perspectives and meet talented authors from our own backyard.”
The 2025 Read Local series features free events at libraries across the county, including:
- Meet the Author Events: J. Dwayne Garnett (Sept. 6), Brittney Arena (Sept. 20), Yocasta Bianconi (Sept. 27), Georgann Eubanks (Sept. 28)
- Children’s Author Book Readings: Danielle Cosgrove (Oct. 14 and 16), Audrey Perrott (Sept. 28)
- Writing Workshops: Delia Rouse (Sept. 6), C.H. Carter (Sept. 8), Heather Bell Adams (Sept. 11)
Whether you’re a young reader diving into your first chapter book, a teen exploring new voices or an adult searching for your next great read, Read Local offers something for everyone.
To keep the stories going long after the events end, Wake County Public Libraries has also curated special reading lists featuring works by participating authors and other local talent:
