Wake County Public Health is recognizing National HIV Testing Day on June 27 by offering free testing events throughout June. Residents are invited to attend one of five events hosted at County regional centers to get tested for HIV, learn about sexual health and access resources and care.

“Knowing your HIV status is a powerful step in protecting your health and the health of others,” said Wake County Board of Commissioners Vice Chair Don Mial. “These events make it easy and free for people to get tested and connect with the care they need.”

All testing will take place aboard Wake Wheels for Health, Wake County’s new mini bus designed to bring services directly to the community. The unit provides a safe and private space for HIV and STI testing. Residents can step aboard to get tested, talk with health educators and receive personalized information about prevention and care options.

Each event includes:

  • Free, confidential HIV testing
  • Screenings for sexually transmitted infections
  • On-site education about PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)
  • Linkage to ongoing care and support services
  • A $25 gift card for all participants who get tested (while supplies last)
