Wake County Public Libraries is partnering with Advance Community Health to bring vital healthcare resources directly to the community. From April to August, Advance Community Health will provide free health screenings and resources through weekly visits at 11 library locations across the county.
"This partnership helps bridge the gap between residents and critical health services," said Wake County Commissioner Cheryl Stallings. "We’re excited to grow this effort and make wellness more accessible to everyone in Wake County."
Advance Community Health is a comprehensive health center serving Wake County with primary care, pediatric services, nutrition counseling, behavioral health support and pharmacy access. In addition to connecting people with affordable healthcare options, ACH will offer on-site glucose testing, blood pressure checks and BMI screenings.
This partnership supports the Community Health Focus Area of the Wake County Strategic Plan while helping address one of the top issues identified in the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment — access to care. The upcoming 2025 Community Health Assessment continues to highlight this priority.
This expanded initiative builds on the success of the pilot program, which brought ACH to Morrisville Community and West Regional libraries. Last year, the program scaled up to five library locations and is now expanding to include weekly visits at 11 libraries.
