Veterans Day honors the men and women who have served our county in times of war and peace. In addition to showing its appreciation, the Wake County Veterans Services Office wants to make sure veterans know about the benefits available to them.
“We understand that veterans’ affairs can be overwhelming,” said Director Douggy Johnson II. “Our staff at the Wake County Veterans Services Office is here to help veterans and their family members navigate the process and get the assistance they need.”
The office offers free support to eligible veterans, active-duty service members, dependents, surviving spouses and children of deceased veterans. People can get help with:
- Applying for NCDVMA benefits;
- Retrieving official Wake County documents in support of claims;
- Completing applications;
- Using the NCWorks Career Center; and
- Obtaining DD-214s.
The Wake County Veterans Services Office at 3000 Falstaff Road in Raleigh is open to walk-in customers on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Appointments are also available. Staff are following COVID-19 safety guidelines, including social distancing and wearing masks.
