Wake County Public Health will be closed to the public for all services except prescription pickup next week, Feb. 16–20, as staff make the final move to their new location on Swinburne Street.
The last day of operations at their current location will be tomorrow, Feb. 13.
"This milestone represents a strategic investment in our county’s building infrastructure," said Safiyah Jackson, vice chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners. "Modernizing our public health building provides dignity of care while maximizing operational efficiencies."
The new Public Health Center, located at 200 Swinburne St., Raleigh, will open to the public on Monday, Feb. 23, at 7:30 a.m.
During the closure, all in-person services including immunizations, STD testing, dental care and children’s health will be suspended. No appointments were scheduled at Sunnybrook, as the closure was planned in advance. To help maintain access, Public Health added additional appointments at regional center clinics to help accommodate patients. Sick visits and walk-in services will not be available during this period.
The Wake County Public Health pharmacy will be open for prescription pickup only Monday–Thursday at the current Public Health Center located at 10 Sunnybrook Road, Raleigh. The pharmacy will be closed on Friday, Feb. 20.
Anyone who may have been exposed to measles related to the exposure notification issued earlier this week can still contact Public Health during the one-week closure. Staff will be actively monitoring and returning calls as a priority.
New Wake County Public Health Center
Last month Wake County cut the ribbon on this new 154,000-square-foot facility that offers modernized clinical spaces, improved security and enhanced amenities such as green spaces and EV charging stations.
This relocation reflects Wake County’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible health services for residents.
