Wake County Public Libraries is proving once again that libraries are more than just places to check out books. A new collaboration with Drinking Gourd Gallery will bring powerful works by local and regional artists to the community through exhibitions at three regional libraries.
Libraries on Canvas is a yearlong series that will spotlight artists whose work explores identity, memory, resilience, and creativity. The exhibitions will rotate through Southeast, Oberlin and East regional libraries.
“This partnership will bring meaningful and thought-provoking exhibitions into our library spaces,” said Wake County Commissioner Tara Waters. “By displaying art in our libraries, we’re not only supporting local artists—we’re creating spaces where everyone in our community can experience the power of creativity.”
