On Monday, May 5, 2026, Sheriff Willie Rowe awarded six Wake County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the Sheriff’s Commendation during the Wake County Board of Commissioner’s meeting.
The Commendation was presented to Deputy Olson, Deputy Pero, Deputy Puebla Guerrero, Deputy Knust, Deputy Polo, and Deputy Peterkin for helping a man during a medical emergency in the Wake County Justice Center
“Each of these deputies took action to work together. Because of their life-saving efforts, the patient is recovering well today,” said Sheriff Rowe. “We are profoundly grateful for their service and selflessness in the line of duty.”
On April 13, 2026, the six deputies responded to a call for a medical emergency. The group helped move the patient safely to the floor, started chest compressions, and used the AED until firefighters arrived and took over.
The patient, Adam Levy, attended the presentation and had the opportunity to meet each deputy. Sheriff Rowe also presented Levy with a gift from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.
This special honor, awarded at the Sheriff’s sole discretion, recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional service, dedication, or bravery and has made a significant positive impact on the agency or community.
