Sandy Pines Preserve

Sandy Pines Preserve, a 563-acre property of forest and working farmland, is located near Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon. This property is the largest tract of land owned by Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space. Existing tractor paths will be converted into an estimated five to 10 miles of equestrian trails.

Wake County Preserves

Wake County Parks, Recreation and Open Space has opened some of its open space properties for limited public access as preserves. After Robertson Millpond Preserve and Turnipseed Preserve, Sandy Pines Preserve will be the third of these properties to be opened in eastern Wake County. Unlike Wake County parks, the preserves will be minimally developed and each site will be primarily dedicated for a single recreational use.

Timeline and Plans

Sandy Pines Preserve opened on Oct. 23, 2021. For more information, please visit wakegov.com/sandypines or email naturepreserve@wake.gov.
