Construction to close parts of American Tobacco Trail in Wake County starting Monday

Sections of the American Tobacco Trail will be periodically closed from Feb. 19 to April 17 so crews can repair and update rails and support systems for several bridges. Maps of the affected areas can be found here.

Dates are subject to change, but the current schedule is as follows:

  • Feb. 19–23: Complete closure of the White Oak Creek Bridge. The trail will be blocked between Wimberly Road and mile marker 18.75 (north of Goodwin Road).
  • Feb. 26–March 1: Partial closure of the White Oak Creek Bridge. Passage is possible.
  • Feb. 26–March 1: Partial closure of the Reedy Branch Bridge. Passage is possible.
  • March 4–13: Complete closure of the Reedy Branch Bridge. The trail will be blocked between Olive Chapel Road and mile marker 20.5 (south of Highway 64 tunnel).
  • March 18–April 17: Complete closure of the Beaver Creek Bridge. The New Hill parking area will be closed, and the trail will be blocked between the New Hill Trailhead and Olive Chapel Road.
