Waste & Recycling

Our Solid Waste Team provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, along with award-winning education programs. Last year, the South Wake Landfill accepted 530,741 tons of garbage, and our Waste & Recycling facilities recycled 40,751 tons of materials!

Service Updates

Convenience Center Site 7, at 9024 Deponie Drive, will be unable to accept scrap metal or construction debris after 4 pm today while repairs are being made. Residents who need to recycle scrap metal can use Site 6, at 3913 Lillie Liles Road, or Site 8, at 2001 Durham Road/Hwy. 98. Residents who want to dispose of construction waste should use Site 10, at 5216 Knightdale-Eagle Rock Road, or Site 11, at 5051 Wendell Blvd./Bus. 64.

Convenience Center Site 6, at 3913 Lillie Liles Road, is temporarily unable to accept cardboard or bulky waste. Residents who want to recycle cardboard, or dispose of mattresses and furniture, should use Convenience Center Site 7, at 9024 Deponie Drive, until further notice.

Beginning Nov. 1, mattresses and box springs can only be disposed of at Convenience Centers 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11. Residents may only bring two (2) mattresses/box springs per day. Additional mattresses/box springs may be brought to the shredder at the South Wake Landfill for a processing fee of $10 per mattress.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
