Our Solid Waste Team provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, along with award-winning education programs. Last year, the South Wake Landfill accepted 530,741 tons of garbage, and our Waste & Recycling facilities recycled 40,751 tons of materials!

Service Updates

Planned Maintenance Causes Closures at Sites 9 and 10

  • On Tuesday, Feb. 27, Convenience Center Site 10, at 5216 Knightdale-Eagle Rock Road in Knightdale, will be closed for equipment replacement. Customers should use Site 11, at 5051 Wendell Blvd./Bus. 64 in Wendell, instead.
  • On Friday, March 1, Convenience Center 9, at 3337 New Hill-Holleman Road in New Hill, will be closed for equipment installation. Customers should visit Site 2, at 6120 Old Smithfield Road in Apex, instead.

Temporary Interruption in Garbage Service at Site 8
Convenience Center Site 8, at 2001 Durham Road/Hwy. 98 in Wake Forest, is unable to accept garbage because of equipment failure. Residents who need to dispose of bagged trash or bulky waste such as mattresses should use Convenience Center Site 7, at 9024 Deponie Drive in Raleigh, until further notice.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
