Waste & Recycling

Our Solid Waste Team provides waste disposal and recycling drop-off services to residents and businesses in Wake County, along with award-winning education programs. Last year, the South Wake Landfill accepted 530,741 tons of garbage, and our Waste & Recycling facilities recycled 40,751 tons of materials!

Service Updates

Convenience Center Site 6, at 3913 Lillie Liles Road, is currently unable to accept bulky waste because of equipment failure. Residents who need to dispose of mattresses, furniture or other bulky items should take them to Convenience Center Site 7, at 9024 Deponie Drive in Raleigh. 

Convenience Center Site 7 at 9024 Deponie Drive is unable to accept construction waste or scrap metal after 4 pm because of maintenance work occurring at the site. Residents are encouraged to bring these items between 7 am and 4 pm.

Facilities Hours of Operations

All facilities are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve (at noon) and Christmas Day.
