Newly Renovated Southgate Community Library Re-Opens in Southeast Raleigh Today

Chairs, books and new furniture in library rooom
The newly renovated Southgate Community Library features an open floor plan with easy-to-access shelves, colorful chairs and thousands of books!

The Southgate Community Library reopened its doors to the public today after a makeover several months in the making. When the first patrons walked in on Friday, Feb. 4, they were welcomed with fresh carpet, paint, new furnishings, new shelving, an open floor plan and upgraded children’s programming space.

“The Southgate Library has been serving people at that location off Rock Quarry Road for 36 years, so it’s wonderful to see it getting a redesign and upgrade,” said Dr. James West, Wake County Commissioner, about the $130,000 renovation funded by the county and property owner. “That’s a small, beloved community library, so we hope the refurbishing will bring even more people to visit and enjoy all it has to offer.”

The Southgate Community Library is located at 1601 Cross Link Road in Raleigh. It offers thousands of books and materials for all ages to read and check out, public computers and printing services, and great children’s programming including:
