Monetary Donations

Your monetary donation helps provide care and support for the animals at the Wake County Animal Center. Donations are used to directly benefit animals in our care and may support:

  • Animal enrichment programs and services
  • Advanced medical care
  • Daily animal care and shelter needs
     

There are two ways to make a monetary donation:

Donate online

Donating is quick and easy through our secure online donation portal. Donations are directed to the Wake County Animal Center, allowing us to use funds where they are needed most to support the animals in our care.

The donation portal offers several convenient features, including:

  • Multiple payment options, including most major credit and debit cards, as well as eCheck, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Venmo, with the option to set up recurring donations
  • Optional donor accounts to save payment information and view donation history
     

Donations will support the Animal Center as a whole, allowing funds to be used where they are needed most.

*One hundred percent of proceeds are used to support the Wake County Animal Center.

Donate a Needed Care Item

Generous community members bring many items to the Animal Center to help the pets in need. Individuals, school groups, service groups, birthday parties, etc., collect these necessary needed items. To best help the animals, we have outlined the items we routinely accept as donations.

Needed & Accepted Items(*all food must be unopened and not past the expiration date)

  • New or lightly used blankets or large towels
  • Canned dog, cat, puppy or kitten food
  • Dry dog, cat, puppy or kitten food
  • Little critter food (rat, rabbit, ferret, guinea pig)
  • New or slightly used indestructible toys in LARGE sizes (such as Kongs and Nylabones)
  • Kitty Litter
  • Soft cat treats
  • Dog treats
     

Items we cannot accept / use (and we thank you for not bringing to the Animal Center):  heavily soiled or used towels or blankets, hand towels, pillows, pillow cases, sheets, opened or expired pet food, used litter pans or litter scoops, heavily used toys, destructible toys (such as rope toys and stuffed animals), rawhides, bones, antlers, medications or medical supplies, non-animal related items, small animal totes or carrying bags and animal clothing / costumes.

Host a Fundraising Event

Our community graciously hosts many events and designates the Wake County Animal Center as a beneficiary of the event contributions! These have included local pubs, restaurant nights, Girl Scout / Boy Scout / School Group fundraiser drives, etc.  If this interests you or your organization, please reach out to us at  919-212-PETS (7387) or email  AnimalCenter@wake.gov.

Pet Food Donation – Drop-Off Locations

You can make pet food donations to the Wake County Animal Center at one of the following locations. Pet food donations received are shared with our Transfer Partners and families in need throughout the community.
