
Deputy County Manager Ashley Jacobs provides executive oversight of the departments of Communications, Community Services (GIS, Wake County Public Libraries, Parks, Recreation & Open Space, Planning, Development & Inspections), Fire Services, Emergency Management, and Information Services, and is liaison to the City-County Bureau of Identification. She provides leadership in support of the County’s goals of Growth and Sustainability, Public Safety, and Digital Equity.
Jacobs joined Wake County in June 2021. Prior to joining Wake, Jacobs served as County Administrator for Beaufort County, S.C., Assistant County Administrator for Aiken County, S.C., Executive Director of the Greater Lake City Community Development Office/Lake City Creative Alliance in Lake City, S.C., Deputy County Administrator for Dorchester County, S.C., and Assistant County Administrator for Richland County, S.C.
Jacobs holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clemson University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Carolina and is a member of Pi Alpha Alpha Honor Society. She is a graduate of the ICMA Gettysburg Leadership Institute, Leadership South Carolina, Leadership Raleigh, and is a former President of the League of Women in Government. She is a member of ICMA and NCCCMA and serves on the Membership Support Committee.
