Public Programs
From Landfill to Green Hill
Saturday, Oct. 11, 10 a.m.–noon
How does a landfill become a park? Take a walking tour up the Big Hill to discover how Green Hills came to be. You’ll learn how landfills work, what we can do with them when they’re full, and ways to reduce your waste to extend landfill life. We'll see what wildlife we can spot along the way, as well!
This program will involve hiking about 1.5 miles total up and downhill on gravel terrain. There will also be extended periods of standing. Registration is required. For ages 16 & up. Counts toward NCEE Criteria II or III.
Monthly 5k and 10k Races
US Road Running will host monthly 5k and 10k races at the park on the following dates:
March 9, April 12, May 10 & 17, June 14 & 21, July 12 & 19, August 9 & 16, September 13 & 20, October 11 & 18, November 8 & 15, and December 13 & 20.
Expect busier than normal use of the Pedestrian Loop around the Big Hill on these dates from park opening until 11 a.m.
